After a period of waiting, doors of opportunity began to open up for my Masters education. The ‘congratulations’ were rolling in but I needed more than the admissions, I needed financial sponsorship. I had received admissions from several universities, some of which offered scholarships but were not my choice. It made no sense to those around me that I would not be accepting the offer when my choice school had not offered any financial aid, in fact, they had informed me that my application for financial aid was unsuccessful.
One night, as I meditated on God’s word. I felt the Lord ask me to give Him a chance to show up for me. At that moment, I decided to go with my number one choice, regardless of funding. As led by the Holy Spirit, I began taking actions towards enrollment, travel, and relocation. A few days after I began taking those steps, I received an email from the school, informing me that my financial aid application was successful. The same aid they had previously communicated as unsuccessful. That was the first miracle.
The second miracle was that at every point in time that I needed further financial aid, it was provided, so much so that I never paid any tuition or fees out of pocket. Finally, as I was about to graduate, I applied for my student loans to be written off. However, my request was categorically denied. A few days after the denial, I received email notifications informing me that my debt balance was 0 dollars. That was another miracle.
God did not stop there - I was offered admission and a full scholarship to complete another degree at the University of Oxford. Indeed, my entire financial journey in school was a story of God’s grace and favour.
